Brass Trios & Quartets Acoustic Solo & Duos Instrumental Pianists & Vocals
Barney Starz picked up his first guitar at eight years old to start lessons. But unlike a lot of musicians who dabble with other instruments, he was enamored with the guitar and never played anything else. After performing in his first showcase to an audience of more than 400 by age 11, Starz got his first electric guitar at 13 and he was hooked. Starz studied music and different apex guitarists alike. He went to Henry Ford Community College and the University of Michigan Dearborn to study Music Theory. Thereafter, furthered his knowledge by taking privet jazz guitar lessons from Professor John Hall at Henry Ford CC.
Cassady Renee Temple:
Cassady sang before she could talk…no, really. From a very young age, it was clear that she had a strong affinity for music and the arts. By the age of four, She was singing solos in church choir, staging one-woman shows for her family, and decided by age seven that she was going to be both Barbra Streisand AND Britney Spears when she grew up.
Cassady began her journey into the world of musical theater at ten years old and has not stopped since. While attending Oakland University with a major in musical theater performance, Cassady performed in numerous productions, both educational and professional. Some of her favorite roles include The Extraordinary Girl (American Idiot), Queen (The Life), Ado Annie (Oklahoma!), Eve (The Apple Tree), and Ivy Robinson (bare: a pop opera). One of the highlights of Cassady’s time at OU was the opportunity to create her own personal cabaret-style show, devising a concept, choosing music, and working with a band before performing in a nightclub setting. The opportunity to create and perform a solo show from start to finish was one of the most exciting and cherished parts of Cassady’s college career. Cassady was also fortunate to workshop and perform with renowned musical theatre professionals, including Jonathon Monro, Natalie Weiss, and composing team Carner and Gregor.
Cassady recently returned to Michigan after spending nine months performing as a member of the production cast onboard Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas. This contract with RCCL took her to dozens of incredible places around the world, from Vancouver and Alaska to Hawaii, and then to French Polynesia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and other islands in the South Pacific. Onboard, Cassady performed in numerous Broadway-style production shows, as well as a jazz cabaret, 70s dance party, and a murder mystery dinner theatre. Cassady also performed as the featured guest vocalist in a headliner show performed by West End actor and singer Brian McCann.
In May of 2018, Cassady joined Metro Detroit-based 80s band The Square Pegz as their lead vocalist. Aside from the amazing music, massive hair, and excess of glitter, Cassady’s favorite thing about being a band member is the opportunity to connect with audiences offstage as well. You can also catch Cassady onstage with the popular band The Mega 80s from time to time. It was through The Mega 80s that Cassady and Barney were introduced and eventually teamed up to create even more music.
When she’s not onstage or rehearsing, Cassady can be found teaching voice and piano lessons to young students at Macomb-based Rock & Roll Prep School, sharing her love and passion for music with the next generation of musicians. Outside of the music world, Cassady can be found frequenting Target, drinking an exorbitant amount of Starbucks, and binge-watching Netflix.
